Entrechaux is 100% Provence: the village nestling at the foot of the castle, vineyards, wine, olive-trees, lavender, oak trees, forests, and rivers. Every thing is here !
Moreover, 7 km to the West lies Vaison-la-Romaine and its roman treasures.
To the South stands the Mont Ventoux, " the giant of Provence ", the "mirror of the eagles " according to the poet René Char. Its summit (1909 meters) is 12 km as the crow flies far from Entrechaux. The village borders the Toulourenc and the Ouvèze river.
Still more, Entrechaux is truly European as the village stands on the 101 km long "Princes of Orange" road, which runs from the banks of the Rhone up to the Alps (Hautes Alpes). The name of the road is due to Guillaume I° of Nassau, known as the Taciturn one, stathouder of Holland, Prince d'Orange and Baron d'Orpierre. If one considers Entrechaux's castle, then, according to George Brun (see bibliography) Entrechaux looks like a " burg of the Rhineland mislaid in Provence "! If now one considers its library set up by the editor and benefactress Mary Glasgow, then Entrechaux is very "british".
